Tuesday, June 24, the Ministry of Transport announced that it had ordered car manufacturers to immobilize in France 800,000 additional vehicles equipped with Takata airbags, implicated in several accidents.

800,000 additional vehicles stopped overnight: this is the drastic measure that the Ministry of Transport has just taken the danger of their Takata airbags. In total, 1.7 million cars are now targeted by the circulating ban. Stellantis claims to have already warned all the owners of suspicious vehicles. The majority of manufacturers remain concerned. In detail, targeted cars are all those equipped with risky airbags in Corsica and overseas, as well as vehicles dating from before 2011 in mainland France.

A decision made after the accident occurred in Reims (Marne) on June 11, where a 36 -year -old mother was killed by the explosion of her airbag Takata. It is the 18th death linked to defective airbags. To check if your car is concerned, you can go to the manufacturer’s website and enter the 17 -digit serial number which appears on your gray card. You will then get the status of your vehicle.
