300 passengers from a TER Strasbourg-Paris blocked overnight on their train because of a breakdown

300 passengers of a termination connecting Strasbourg-Paris spent the night blocked on their train at Bar-le-Duc (Meuse) due to a breakdown of a freight train to Vitry-le-François (Marne), reports Saturday, May 31, here Champagne-Ardenne (ex-France Bleu).

The merchandise train broke down at Vitry-le-François around 5:15 p.m. Friday May 31, interrupting all TERs between Saint-Dizier and Châlons-en-Champagne. The 300 passengers of this TER, who left Strasbourg at 4:19 p.m. and ahead of Paris at 9:23 p.m., spent eleven hours on their train. Due to the location, it was impossible for the SNCF to find enough hotel rooms for the 300 passengers. The train had to turn back at night to go to Nancy, where only two families were able to be taken care of by taxi.

The passengers were welcomed in a waiting train by the night teams with a bottle of water and meal tray. The train was able to leave around 5:45 am on Saturday May 31 in the morning. Regarding reimbursements of tickets, only the region is competent on the issue, specifies the SNCF which “Present his apologies for this situation.”
