The new director general of Stellantis, the Italian Antonio Filosa, will be based in the United States while his predecessor Carlos Tavares was in Europe, commented a spokesman for the group on Tuesday, June 10, confirming information of the French daily Les Echos. The 52 -year -old leader, appointed on May 28 at the head of the fourth world automobile group, will remain based in Detroit (Michigan), from where he led the group for the American continent. This change is highly symbolic for the group created in 2021 with the fusion of French PSA (Peugeot, Citroën, Opel) and the Italian-American Fiat-Chrysler.

Europe represents the first market of the group in volume, but it achieves most of its profits in North America, where difficulties in 2024 have precipitated the fall of Carlos Tavares. Antonio Filosa must still be officially inducted on July 18 during a general meeting of group shareholders. Meanwhile, the board of directors must grant him the powers of director general as of June 23.

The document on the agenda of the General Assembly, published Thursday evening, reveals the planned remuneration for the group’s owner, with an annual basic salary at 1.8 million dollars (1.6 million euros). His treatment is accompanied by many bonuses linked to objectives that could raise the amount. It could thus affect remuneration amounting to 23 million dollars per year in 2028 if it achieved all the objectives set to it, according to a calculation of AFP confirming that of several other media.

As early as 2026, for its first full year as managing director, Antonio Filosa could reach a maximum of $ 18 million (15.8 million euros). This maximum amount must go up gradually to reach 23 million dollars (20.2 million euros) in 2028, a sum despite everything lower than that affected by Carlos Tavares in its last year at the head of the group (23.1 million euros).
