The Amazon boss decided to celebrate his marriage in the city of Doges. This is not to the taste of the inhabitants, already exasperated by the surcourism that eats away at their city.
In the heart of the tourist season, the inhabitants of Venice would have gone well. Exasperated by the thousands of daily visitors, they are now at war against the preparations for the marriage of Jeff Bezos, the boss of Amazon. At the end of last week, Venetians decided to deploy a huge banner on the Campanile in Place Saint-Marc, a supporter, to let as many people as possible that the billionaire is not welcome.
The name of their collective, “no space for Bezos”, is displayed everywhere in the streets. “It will be impossible to move, to live, in this city which is increasingly sold to tourists, stars and billionaires”regrets an activist. “We young people, we fight daily in this city where it has become impossible to find accommodation”deplore another.
According to information released in the press, Jeff Bezos would have reserved several luxury hotels for his guests and privatized many taxis and gondolas to allow his guest stars to move.
