In the 1st round of the Queen’s, Arthur Rinderknech beat Ben Shelton on Tuesday, who has just joined the top 10 in the ranking. A little earlier, Giovanni Mpeshi Perricard had been eliminated by Brandon Nakashima.
Arthur Rinderknech was able to seize his luck. While he joined the main draw of the Queen’s thanks to the package of Grigor Dimitrov, the French Lucky Loser won when he entered the running against Ben Shelton in two sets (7-6, 7-6) and 1:50 of play.
During a meeting in which the two players failed to take the service of their opponent (the American had to save six break balls, however, it was therefore the decisive game each time that the 80th world made the difference in both rounds. After winning the first tie-break (7-5), Rinderknech did this during the second (7-4) and therefore offered the one who has just joined the top 10 in the ATP ranking and who remained on a semi-final in Stuttgart last week.
It is therefore a sacred performance that the Var made on the London lawn. In the next round, he will now challenge another American, namely Reilly Opelka.
MPETSHI Perricard out of the entrance
On the other hand, a little earlier, Giovanni Mpeshi Perricard could not do better than Gaël Monfils, eliminated on Monday. In the 1st round of the Queen’s, the young Frenchman (21) was beaten by Brandon Nakashima, winner in three sets (6-7, 7-6, 6-4) and 2:36 of play. After reaching the 2nd round in Stuttgart last week, the native of Lyon initially started in the 32nd world.
After saving a set at 4-5, Mpeshi Perricard had won a decisive extended game (12-10), spreading two new set balls in passing. Behind, the American replied by returning to the French during the tie-break (7-5). Finally, in the last round, the 36th world fell in love with the worst time by losing its service at 4-5. It is therefore Nakashima who will challenge Dan Evans in the 2nd round of the Queen’s.
