The use of supermarket restaurants will remain possible after January 1, 2027 for products not directly consumable, said on Tuesday, June 17, the Minister of Commerce and SMEs, Véronique Louwagie, with the newspaper Ouest-France. An announcement that occurs while the executive works on a reform of the system.

In recent months, the use of restaurant titles in supermarkets has raised criticism from catering professionals, some pointing out a “Diversion”. In January, during the last extension, the UMIH, the main professional organization in the hotel and catering, had notably denounced a “Bad blow to restaurateurs”.

They thus request the establishment of a double ceiling, higher for catering than in supermarkets. A track taken “Very seriously”, ensure Véronique Louwagie with Ouest-Francewhich recalls the need for “Check its legal feasibility”.

Other point addressed by the Minister : that of the dematerialization of restaurant titles, justified by “Very heavy management” imposed by the paper format. Consequently, emitters of restaurant titles “must anticipate to no longer have paper stocks on January 1, 2027”warned the Minister.
