Ten years after its closure, the Mont Montrejeau-Luchon train line will resume service on Sunday June 22 in Occitanie. It is the return of a public service in the mountainous territory.
A train at station Montrejeau (Haute-Garonne) is an excellent surprise for young Parisians who sought to join Luchon by public transport. “It completely suits me to take the train because I should have waited two and a half hours to have a bus correspondence which, for about an hour to go to Luchon against 30 minutes by train”Ensures a tourist. Drivers also rediscover the 36 km track closed by the SNCF 10 years ago. Abandoned because it was too dilapidated, it was completely renovated. “There were very long areas where we were limited to 10 km/h, so that we put about an hour to make the trip”Recalls Ulrich Louche, SNCF travelers driver.
