The 2024-2025 top 14 season is officially completed for Toulon. This Saturday evening, at the Groupama Stadium of Décines near Lyon, the RCT lost, as part of the semi-finals of the French rugby championship, against the Union Bordeaux-Bègles (39-24). At the end of this meeting, Pierre Mignoni, the manager of Toulon, notably spoke of a “not successful match” against the UBB, which won, less than a month ago, the Champions Cup and which will therefore seek the double, next week, against Toulouse, in the final.

Mignoni: “I expected a little more from us”
After a rather interesting start to the meeting, the Toulonnais were then exceeded by the mastery displayed by their evening opponents and therefore gave in. Mignoni then continued: “It’s a shame because we ‘break’ (crosses) 3, 4 times in the first half, we mark this test (just before the break) but we are very ineffective, we lack patience. I think we could have had a hand on the match if we had been more patient. I was waiting a little more on our part, I wanted to see at what level we were facing the European champion, a team that is used to, but I think we did not make the match we had to make. »»
Toulon had not played the top 14 semi-finals since the 2016-2017 season: “We have to come back every year, fight, work harder, we have to pass a course, physically and in our rugby. »»
