“I ask the state to take responsibility,” said the president of the association Sos Bugaled Breizh, after being received in Matignon

The association, which militates to understand why the Breton trawler was sinking in 2004, killing five sailors, was received by an adviser from François Bayrou on Monday, June 23.

“I ask that the state will take responsibility”, said this Monday on Franceinfo Dominique Launay, president of the association SOS BUGALED BREIZH, after being received in the morning in Matignon by a court counselor by Prime Minister François BAYROU, more than 21 years after the sinking of the Breton trawler on January 15, 2004 off the British coast, leading to the death of his five sailors.

The causes of the drama are still controversial today. The official hypothesis points to a fishing accident, but suspicion persist in the involvement of a military submarine, especially British or American, due to naval exercises in the area. Despite surveys and expertise, no conclusive evidence has confirmed this thesis, and the file, reopened several times, remains marked by gray areas and families for the truth.

This Monday, and after having demonstrated a month ago before Matignon, the president of the association, as well as a delegation of the Breton Democrat Union (UDB) were received by the government services, for a meeting with the justice advisor to François Bayrou.

“Our interlocutor told us that he too thought that it is a submarine which is at the origin of the sinking of the Bugaled Breizh. We are satisfied to hear this from someone who represents our government”.

“We were there for the government to get involved in this case to allow families to know what happened and especially mourning these five missing sailors, who are for nothing in the shipwreck of the boat”, he added, saying, however, “Not to believe” That a declassification of secret defense classified documents is possible in this case.
