The traffic of the northern SNCF network is strongly disrupted on Wednesday June 25, after the flight of hundreds of meters of copper cables.
A busy hall and disappointed travelers. A malicious act and two travelers accidents have put TGV stopped in the North. Consequently, the northern SNCF network is strongly disrupted on Wednesday June 25. At Lille Station (North), passengers paid the price. “It’s been for 17 hours yesterday that we have been waiting for a train, they ended up giving us one in which we were able to sleep in Brussels”tells a user.
At the origin of the disruptions, 600 meters of cables cut and stolen in Mont-de-Terre (north), south of the Lille Europe station. For three in the morning, specialized SNCF agents have been targeting the touched circuits on the edge of the rails. “These are copper cables, hence the flights (…), which are used to order the signaling”explains Thibaut Vieilledent, manager of the territorial unit for North European Infrapole SNCF Network.
Repairs should take a good part of the day this Wednesday. The SNCF plans to return to normal at the start of the evening.
