Having become a current term of military vocabulary since the invasion of Ukraine, on February 24, 2022, the word was widely used by combatants, military bloggers, commentators. In 2023, the Russian mercenaries of the Wagner paramilitary group had thus awarded those of their veterans who had survived a medal baptized “The bakhmout meat chopper”named after the Ukrainian city of Donbass, which they put more than a year to conquer, at the cost of 30,000 dead and injured.
