Led 7-21 at halftime in its second match of the U20 World Cup in Italy, the French team has finally imposed 35-21 and took an immense step towards the semi-finals.
The Blueberries were scared, but they ensured the essentials: a successful victory against the Wales which allows them to have a foot and a half in the semi-finals of the U20 World Cup. The French won 35-21, after being led 7-21 at halftime, on the lawn of Rovigo, in Veneto. The match started very well for them, with a test signed by the Baptist Tilloles melee half between the posts from the 3rd minute, after a very nice collective action for three-quarters on the left (7-0).
But the blueberries then lived ten minutes nightmares.
In the 9th, France stupidly lost the ball on a left side touch, and the Welsh forwards got the defense, before the Sam Scott pillar found the opening (7-7). Then in the 14th, the rear Jack Woods launched a candle for himself, then found his winger Tom Bowen, who marked (7-14). And five minutes later, it was this same Woods that concluded behind the line, after a pass at the foot of Elijah Evans right (7-21). French affairs are not arranged with the yellow card received by Robin Taccola, who hit Woods by backing up, which caused his fall. Fortunately for the Blueberries, there was still an hour to play and they had time to come back.
Four blue trials in the second half
And it was the case! After a rather calm end of first half, the French resumed the second period well and found the sights in the 53rd, by the pillar Edouard Jabea Njocke, who came to reward a long domination of his team near the opposing line (14-21). Then three minutes later, it was the Simeli Daunivucu center that came to mark in force, after a scrum at 25m (21-21). The match definitively tilted the blue side when the Welshman Louis Trevett received a red card 20 minutes after falling back on the noa crossing knee on a clearing.
In numerical superiority, France took advantage of it to take the lead thanks to the back-deputy Xan Mousques, who took advantage of a favorable rebound on a long ball of Simon Daroque (28-21), then marked a last test by the third Bobby Bissu line in the 70th following a touch and a carried ball. It is therefore a ten -point victory for France before the last match against Argentina next Wednesday. But the big air hole of the first half should not happen too often.
