In an interview at Midi Olympique, the XV winger in France and Bordeaux-Bègles Louis Bielle-Biarrey takes stock of his season, who saw him win two major trophies and prove to be in the eyes of the general public, but finish extremely tired.
The last image of the season of Louis Bielle-Biarrey will have been that of its release at the half-time of the top 14 final. Touched at the lower back, the Bordeaux-Bègles winger could not help his teammates, beaten 39-33 after extension. But the 22 -year -old was simply at the end of the roll, after playing 22 games with the UBB and 8 with the Blues, and won the 6 Nations Tournament and the Champions Cup.
If hematoma in the lower back will soon be only a bad memory and that it will be operational for the resumption of training during the week of August 4, Bordeaux admits being satisfied to be on vacation, in a balance sheet interview with
Olympic Midi. “I really finished the tired, rinsed season. My body made me feel it. I had taken one or two concussions, and in the final, I had “pesesome” everywhere. It was the first time in my career that I felt worn out at this point. But the longer the seasons, the more it can happen. But it’s going pretty well. I’ve been on vacation for a week. I come back from Ibiza, where I was with my teammates, and I am about to leave with my partner. There is worse as a program! »»
Bielle-Biarrey: “Ailiers, we are often judged to be at the number of tests”
This season, the helmeted winger was almost titular in all the matches he has played. This 2024-25 exercise will remain like that of revelation in the eyes of the general public of “LBB”, thanks in particular to its 8 trials registered during the 6 nations tournament.
“My main goal this season was to continue after my first World Cup and my first tournament. I wanted to confirm, to settle more with the XV of France and to succeed in my matches. I think I had the opportunity to do it, and frankly, I am very happy. (…) I live this new notoriety. It’s always nice to be recognized, appreciated. I receive a lot of marks of affection. Afterwards, it is sometimes more complicated to preserve certain moments of intimacy. But overall, I live well with that. »»
Marking tests is always important for him, but Louis Bielle-Biarrey assures that it is not all: “I am not obsessed with scoring, but I become more and more aware that it is a barometer. Wingers, we are often judged to the number of tests. However, we can make a great match without scoring, and conversely, making it a means by planting a double. Obviously, when I start a match, the goal is to score. But I also try to remain lucid: it is not because I marked that I necessarily made a good match. There have been many times this season that I have marked … without being satisfied with my performance. »» It is up to him to confirm next season because he will be eagerly awaited.
