A collision between two buses in Bolivia left at least 37 dead, including eight children

The accident occurred on a narrow double -way road. A collision between two Bolivia cars left at least 37 people dead, including eight children, and 30 injured on Saturday March 1, near the city of Uyuni, in the south of the country, police announced. Six foreigners are among the victims: five Peruvians and a 3 -year -old German girl. Seven other minors were also killed during the accident.

Potosí prosecutor Gonzalo Aparicio announced to the government news agency Abi that the driver of one of the busy buses, had changed his way and found himself against the wrong way, where he struck the vehicle arriving opposite. “For the moment, we know that one of the drivers was driving in a state of drunkenness”he said.

One of the coaches went to Oruro, where the city carnival is taking place this weekend, one of the biggest festivals in Latin America which attracts tens of thousands of people. Each year, around 1,400 people die on Bolivian roads, mainly due to the dangerousness of driving motorists and mechanical failures, according to figures from the local interior ministry.
