France Télévisions investigated the abuses surrounding the leases chosen by some owners, who wish to ensure the possibility of recovering the keys to their house or apartment during the summer. What does the law really say? Direction the Basque Country.

In the Basque Country, housing owners, baited by gain, are in the crosshairs of the authorities. On the apartment rental sites, most of the rentals are short -lived: from September to the end of June, in the form of a student lease or mobility lease. The contract, strictly supervised by law, is supposed to address only students, employees in training, apprenticeship or internship. In fact, many owners bypass the rule and offer leases to permanent employees. In 2024, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques prefecture identified 117 fraudulent leases.
