How to fight street harassment? Eight out of ten women recognize having already been victims in France. Today, refuge places are multiplying with in particular an application that is experiencing real success.
80 %is the number of women who have already been victims at least once in their street harassment. Too much a number for these residents who are frequently flirted, followed or threatened at any time of the day or night. Many videos go around social networks showing women being accosted heavily in the street.
In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), an application was born. Called “Safe Place”, it aims to list secure places where women can take refuge in the event of street harassment. The principle is simple: the application geolocates the victim and leads it directly to an establishment registered on it. The goal is to act quickly before the situation degenerates.
