During the next edition of the Monte-Carlo Rally, the pilots will have the honor of taking the roads of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco, which will be a first since 2008.
On January 27, 2008, Sébastien Ogier had won his fifth Monte-Carlo rally, during an edition where the pilots had taken the roads of the Formula 1 circuit of Monaco. Eighteen years later, next January for its traditional opening round, the WRC will again make a foray on the F1 roads! The layout of the 2026 edition of the famous rally was unveiled this Friday, and the 13th special, which will run on Saturday evening, will take place on the basis of the Principality circuit, between the rock and the Hercules port. It promises to be short but spectacular, for 2.82 kilometers and will start at 5.45 p.m., at sunset, which promises beautiful images.
If rumors report a possible return to Ardèche and around Valence for the 2027 season, the 2026 edition of the Rally Monte Carlo will always take place in the Hautes-Alpes and the Drôme Provençale, with Gap as a hub. Suffice to say that Sébastien Ogier, the native of Gap and record holder of victories on this legendary rally (10 successes between 2009 and 2025) should still be motivated to take part once again, even if the 41 -year -old driver runs part -time in WRC.
The Turini pass during the Power Stage
“Friday marks the longest day of the rally with 129.38 km of racing across the Drôme and the Hautes-Alpes, with three classic specials, each run twice,” says the WRC site. Saturday’s journey, mainly based in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, includes two passages from Bréole / Bellaffaire (30.10 km) and a resumption of Vaumeilh / Claret before the potential super special monaco which will conclude the stage. The Sunday’s final will enter the legend with two emblematic stages-Col de Braus / La Cabanette and La Bollène-Vésubie / Moulinet-each run twice. The last pass by reel, including in particular the famous Turini pass, will serve as Wolf Power Stage. »This promises!
