To complete France’s next budget, a drop of 18% of aid allocated to sport could be performed. A perspective that worries in the environment.

Gildas Huet, president of the Miniac-Morvan amateur football club, was looking forward to packages. About fifteen balloons financed entirely by endowments. Each year, the club receives 5,700 euros in grants. But to save money, the government plans to lower the budget allocated to sport by 18 %. Gildas Huet fears that he can no longer pay his five employees: “If the city loses state money, we will be impacted and, inevitably, we will not be able to continue to perpetuate our employees.”

A misunderstanding also for high -level athletes. Remember, Mélina Robert-Michon, standard bearer of the 2024 edition and seven Olympic participations in her credit. Her career is almost over, but she fears that the young generation will not live what she has experienced: “We have seen what sport has brought us and how much it could change our lives, and we want it to change still lots of lives and that lots of athletes, lots of children can benefit from all this. And for that, we need means.”

For the first candle of the Paris Olympics, the party is over. A rant is even pushed by the former boss of the Games, Tony Estanguet: “I have a lot of trouble understanding this kind of decision. I believe that everything has shown that sport is fundamental, very useful to society because it is a vector of social, respect, health, excellence.”

The Ministry of Sports represents one of the smallest budgets in the State, 0.2 %, and it could still decrease.
