On the eve of the final stage of the 2025 edition of the Tour de France, which will be held this Sunday between Mantes-la-Ville and the Champs-Élysées, Jonas Vingegaard reaffirmed his intention to participate in the Tour of Spain, which will start at the end of August.
It is a hectic summer that Jonas Vingegaard saw. Engaged on the roads of the Tour de France, the Danish, winner of the Grande Boucle in 2022 and 2023 did not necessarily succeed in making the difference this year. A contrasting experience for the one who gleaned four stages victories on the roads of the Tour during the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions. For this year, it will not be for the Visma-Lease a Bike runner, who will not have deserved, but who will not have succeeded in making the difference.
“I can’t wait for the Vuelta to start”
Questioned in the mixed zone upstream of the 20th and penultimate stage of the Tour, this Saturday, in Nantua, the Danish confirmed his presence on the other big tower of the summer, the Tour of Spain: “First, I will take a week of rest, but I can’t wait for the Vuelta to start,” he said. A clear message for those who had already warned, from January, his intention to participate in the two major summer deadlines.
And, Jonas Vingegaard knows this Tour of Spain rather well, in which he took part twice, in 2020 and 2023. During his second participation, the Danish shone with his talent, finishing in second place, at seventeen small seconds, just behind his teammate Sepp Kuss, nearby to offer a double on the two of the three large loops.
