This is one of the savings measures in the social security budget: lowering the number of sick leaves, which has exploded for a few years. The government is taking action on Monday, September 1, placing 500 general practitioners under surveillance, who would prescribe too many work stoppages.

They are in the viewfinder of health insurance: 500 general practitioners are placed under control, with the objective of reducing the number of sick leave they issue. Two young retirees believe that abuses exist: “Doctors, if you tell them ‘I need an eight -day stop because I don’t feel good’, they don’t seek too much to understand”estimates one of them. Others judge that it is up to doctors to decide.

The average duration of sick leave for permanent employees has grown since the health crisis. It is now 21.5 days, three more days in two years. To save money, the 500 general practitioners should reduce their prescriptions for work stoppages by 20 %. An unacceptable situation for the representative of young doctors: “We are not going to have fun sending people tried to work to be shattered, while the goal is that we can keep in mind that health allows you to work”underlines David Azerad, member of the union of young doctors.

Another lever of savings, the fight against fraud, with an ultra-secure form to combat falsified work stoppages. Now compulsory, any unsecured work stop form will be rejected by health insurance.
