A few days after being titled world champion in the time trial, the Swiss Marlen Reusser became this Wednesday champion of European discipline. On the French side, Juliette Labous and Cédrine Kerbaol finished in the top 10.
After conquered the world on September 21, Marlen Reusser managed to do the double by being crowned European champion in the time trial. Indeed, this Wednesday, the Swiss, dressed in its rainbow outfit, again showed itself imperial in the discipline and flew over the event which took place in Drôme between Loriol-sur-Drôme and Star-sur-Rhône. On arrival, the latter largely preceded the Norwegian Mie Bjørndal Ottestad (at 49”20) and the Dutch Mischa Bredewold (at 51”08) which complement the podium.
“It’s very special to win both. (…) My season? I’m super happy, it was really so good. I’m super happy with my new team (Movistar) and it’s nice. The wind? It was really crazy. It was an incredible headwind. We knew that today it would be a battle against him, “reacted to react, the now quadruple European time trial champion, at the microphone of the L’Equipe chain.
Mouth and kerbaol in the top 10
While the Norwegian Katrine Aalerud failed to get on the podium for a few hundredths, there are two French women in the top 10 of the event. Just over a minute from the new world champion in the time trial, Juliette Labous took 6th place this Wednesday, while Cédrine Kerbaol finished 9th just under two minutes from the winner.
“I had fun, it’s been a long time since it had been the case in the background. The course is very rolling, that’s not what I appreciate the most but I still made a good time. The legs answered well. I think we have something to play tomorrow (Thursday) on the mixed relay, “reacted the runner of the FDJ-Suez training which therefore meets the silver medal obtained by the French team during the mixed relay of the Worlds, on September 24.
