First medal for the French team. In a standstill since the kick-off of these European cycling championships they are playing at home, in L’Etoile-sur-Rhône in Drôme, the Blues unlocked their counter this Thursday morning on the occasion of the junior mixed time trial, the first meeting of this day to which the mixed relay, but among seniors this time, is also on the program. In the preamble to the Great Race, the Blueberries won the silver medal.

Represented among women by Zoé Bihan, Charlotte Bouhier and Ninon Humbert and with Lancelot Gayant, Gabin Gicquel and Luc Royer to defend French colors but on the male side this time, the Habs completed the forty kilometers offered by the course in 52 ″ 39 and at 45.584 km/h on average. A very good performance but insufficient however to deprive this Thursday of the gold medal the most impressive team on this CLM in mixed relay among the juniors.

The Blues have a time occupied their heads

Namely Norway, mounted on the highest step of the podium by traveling the Drôme route in a time of 52’05, 34 seconds (and 62 hundredths) faster than the French, who were part of the same starting airlock as future winners. However, if the Norwegians, who had chosen to align Oda Aune Gissinger, Marte Dolven, Ida Ostbye Stövern, Sindre ORHOLM-LESSETH, Kristian HAUGETUN and Häkon EIKSund Oksnes, already ahead of the Blues at the first intermediary, it was the trio composed of Gayant, Gicquel and Royer who had passed the second intermediary.

Norway has taken over the orders six kilometers from the finish line and never dropped them despite the final efforts of Bihan-Bouhier-Humbert to reverse the situation. It was even the Norwegians who finished the strongest, after giving a last, decisive necklace. France, which was one of the most serious outsiders, nevertheless ended in a very beautiful second place. Poland completes the podium.
