The goals go to the Champions League were more favorable to Dutch clubs than to French. The gap is reduced to the UEFA index between the two nations.
With four clubs still in the running in the Champions League, France led its boat very well during the league phase of the competition. But while the dams go for the knockout stages have argued this week, the three -color clubs weighed down a bit, especially if we compare their results to those obtained by their Dutch counterparts. And that had an impact in the UEFA index classification.
Admittedly, the fact that Brest and PSG compete did not help. But what mainly prejudiced to the France index is the defeat conceded on its land by AS Monaco against Benfica (0-1). In fact, if France has still progressed very slightly in the last classification of the UEFA index (+0.286, for a total of 69.379 points), it was the Netherlands who best shot the game.
Dutch ascent, but don’t worry
Five of the four Dutch teams playing this week, whether in C1 or Europa League dams, won. If the PSV folded against Juventus (2-1), the Feyenoord has offered AC Milan (1-0) in the Champions League. On the side of the Europa League, Twente, Az Alkmaar and Ajax have respectively defeated Bodo/Glimt (2-1), Galatasaray (4-1) and Union Saint-Gilloise (2-0). A cardboard (almost) full, synonymous with much greater progression than France with the UEFA index (+1.334, or 65,150 points).
The gap still remains very largely in favor of French clubs. As a reminder, the first four in the ranking are entitled to four direct places for the Champions League, while the fifth obtains three direct tickets and one for the preliminary round.
