Quercy escapes suspension

The captain of Montauban, Fred Quercy, escapes a suspension following his virulent remarks towards Fabien Galthié, coach of the XV of France.

Promoted to the Top 14, Montauban had a turbulent start to the season. On a sporting level, the Green and Black remain in search of their first victory in the elite after six days. Behind the scenes, the residents of Sapiac were victims of the theft of their Pro D2 champion shield. A trophy which will be replaced, we learned this Wednesday. However, another, more anticipated news came today. Summoned before the disciplinary committee on October 14, Fred Quercy risked dismissal following his insulting remarks to Fabien Galthié.

“Galthié is the best coach I have known, but also the biggest m… humanly” declared the Montalban captain about the current coach of the XV of France who had the 3rd line under his control during his mandate in Montpellier. Comments with serious consequences, bringing him before the commission for “undermining the best interests of rugby”. However, despite the seriousness of the potential sanction, the jury showed leniency, issuing a reprimand accompanied by a suspended fine of 3,000 euros.

Holder during the first two days of Top 14, Fred Quercy was subsequently removed from the Tarn-et-Garonnais squad before returning to competition four days earlier during the setback recorded at home against Castres (28-32). “Fred Quercy is therefore qualified for the next US Montalbanaise meeting” we read at the conclusion of the press release from the National Rugby League.
