Hard blow for Benjamin Bonzi. This Sunday afternoon, the Frenchman’s package for the Rolex Paris Masters, which begins this Monday, October 27 and will end on Sunday, November 2, was made official. The Habs, 54th player in the world, suffers from a thigh injury. The draw for the last Masters 1000 of this 2025 season has already been made.
The Frenchman, who was able to enter the main draw directly, following the withdrawal of the Serbian Novak Djokovic, should have played his first round this Monday evening, in a night session, during the last rotation, against the Russian Karen Khachanov, 13th player in the world, seeded n°10 and former winner of this tournament. The Frenchman will be replaced by a lucky loser. There will therefore only be seven Tricolores in the main draw. The one to watch, more particularly, will be Ugo Humbert, finalist in 2024 against the German Alexander Zverev. The other Blues will be Alexandre Müller, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Corentin Moutet.
Bonzi back for the Davis Cup?
For their part, Terence Atmane, Arthur Cazaux and Arthur Rinderknech were invited. In the qualifications, there were seven who could join them. Only Valentin Royer had passed the first round, before then losing. However, the Frenchman retains all his chances of being drafted following the withdrawal of his compatriot. Before Benjamin Bonzi, other French people had already been forced to give up, such as Arthur Fils and Gaël Monfils.
Bonzi injured his left leg around ten days ago during his quarter-final of the ATP 250 tournament in Brussels, Belgium. In three weeks, he is expected in Bologna, with the French team, to face Belgium in the Davis Cup, surely associated in doubles with Pierre-Hugues Herbert. With this in mind, Bonzi will not be present next week at the ATP 250 tournament in Metz either.
