We will not see Stefanos Tsitsipas again in 2025. The Greek announces the end of his season following his withdrawal from the Athens tournament.
A year 2025 to forget for Stefanos Tsitsipas. However, she started with a title in February at the ATP 500 in Dubai. But since then, nothing. A quarter-final in the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo and early eliminations in the Grand Slam – he never went beyond the second round – including a retirement in the first round of Wimbledon against Frenchman Valentin Royer.
Defeated in September during the Davis Cup against the Brazilian João Fonseca, the Greek made a brief appearance in Saudi Arabia during the Six Kings Slams exhibition. A defeat against Sinner, but a nice check for more than a million euros received for his participation. 26th in the world, Tsitsipas continues his fall in the rankings, he who was 11th last year and 6th in 2023. He has a series of withdrawals and is now giving up on Athens.
Tsitsipas, see you in 2026!
Stefanos Tsitsipas therefore ends his season with a record of 22 victories for 18 defeats. Only 40 matches played, when we know that he had played 67 last year or 75 two years earlier. Proof of his poor form, he had given up on the ATP 500 in Vienna just after his Saudi escapade and more recently at the Rolex Paris Masters, which takes place this year at the Défense Arena.
Registered in Athens, the Greek took the expression “never two without three” literally. He has confirmed his package in Greece and wants to rest to prepare for the next season. This Friday, the exhibition match against Novak Djokovic in which he was to take part was canceled. It is therefore Laslo Djere who takes Tsitsipas’ place in the table of this ATP 250 in Athens (November 2-8). The organization must face numerous withdrawals for this first edition – the tournament replaces that of Belgrade generally scheduled for this period – since Jakub Mensik, Jiri Lehecka, João Fonseca, Sebastian Baez, Camilo Ugo Carabelli, Marton Fucsovics and Roberto Bautista Agut had given up before Tsitsipas.
