Paris Masters: Sinner in the final

Jannik Sinner offers himself a first final at the Rolex Paris Masters after dominating Alexander Zverev (6-0, 6-1) in just 1h02.

Almost a week ago to the day, Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner competed for the title in Vienna. A match in three sets, 2h30 of play and a success for the Italian at the end of a balanced encounter. The 17,500 spectators gathered at the central La Défense Arena expected a similar scenario this Saturday. The Austrian dramaturgy did not have a second act in Paris and the world number two corrected Zverev in two sets: 6-0, 6-1. A one-sided match between an impeccable Sinner (8 aces, 19/21 points won behind his first ball) and a physically and mentally exhausted Zverev after his epic duel against Daniil Medvedev in the semi-final.

Faced with a Jannik Sinner in a state of grace, Zverev did not have the weapons to compete. He had to release his serve on the first game of the match and note the superiority of his opponent throughout the match. By conceding nine break points, the German lost his faceoff six times, unable to counter the heaviness of the Italian’s shots. Close to conceding two bubbles in this semi-final, Zverev understood the gap present this Saturday between him and the one who will try this Sunday to seize first place in the ranking. Sinner will play his ninth final of the season – the third in Masters 1000 (defeats in Rome and Cincinnati) – against Félix Auger-Aliassime. Two of the best indoor players will face each other for the third time this season. The Italian emerged victorious twice from his duel against the Canadian, including the last time in the semi-final of the US Open (6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4).

If successful, Sinner will regain the position of world number one. Facing him, Auger-Aliassime will be keen to create the feat to hope to participate in the end-of-season Masters in Turin (November 9-16, 2025).
