Victorious this Sunday in Elche (3-1, 11th day), FC Barcelona remains five points behind La Liga leader, Real Madrid.
Like almost every day since the start of the season, FC Barcelona knows that it must do its utmost to win, in order not to see Real Madrid fly away. Victorious on Saturday over Valence FC (4-2), Kylian Mbappé and his team put their team eight points behind Barça. This Sunday, the Blaugrana club won against Elche (3-1) and therefore came back five lengths behind the Merengue leader.
Not even ten minutes into the game and it was the Spanish nugget, Lamine Yamal, who opened the scoring in favor of the locals (1-0, 9th). Almost immediately, Fermin Lopez found Ferran Torres for 2-0 (11th). Everything seemed to be going well for the Catalans, but just before the break, Rafa Mir managed to reduce the gap (2-1, 42nd).
Not enough to disturb the Barcelona people more than that, who took advantage of the inspiration of Marcus Rashford to make the break again (3-1, 61st). The English striker sent a cross missile from the left of the area, which hit the bottom of the opposing crossbar before ending up in the back of the net. And the decisive passer was once again Fermin Lopez.
Barça already looking towards the Champions League
Hansi Flick then rotated to give some breathing space, three days before the trip to Belgium to face Club Brugge as part of the fourth day of the Champions League.
In the Spanish championship standings, Barcelona therefore remains five points behind Real Madrid with this eighth victory in eleven days. Nothing is decided yet and the title will be disputed for a good while between the two behemoths.
