The authorities are raising their voice against Shein. The government has initiated a procedure to “suspension” of the platform in France so that its products “finally be in compliance with our laws”announced the Ministry of the Economy on Wednesday November 5. “A first progress update must be made by the ministers in the next 48 hours”specifies the press release. The Asian e-commerce giant opened on Wednesday its very first permanent store within the BHV in Parisdespite controversies and a legal investigation for the sale of sex dolls bearing the likeness of children.

MEPs also announced on Wednesday the upcoming tabling of a transpartisan proposal for a European resolution to ask Brussels and the French government to be tougher with Shein. The company has already come under fire since the revelation on Saturday by the Fraud Repression Agency (DGCCRF) of the sale of sex dolls resembling little girls. Shein has been the target of an investigation by the Paris prosecutor’s office since Monday and will be interviewed on November 18 by the fact-finding mission.
