This Wednesday, during the 2nd round of the ATP 250 in Metz, Kyrian Jacquet and Clément Tabur, winners respectively of Dan Added and Alexander Blockx, validated their ticket for the quarter-finals of the tournament.
There will be at least two French people present during the quarter-finals of the ATP 250 in Metz. Indeed, while waiting to know if Hugo Gaston will do the same against the German Daniel Altmaier, Kyrian Jacquet and Clément Tabur qualified for the next round this Wednesday. Initially, against Dan Added, the native of Lyon won in two sets (6-0, 6-2) and less than an hour of play (55 minutes to be precise).
Beaten by the Briton Jan Choinski during the last round of qualifying in Moselle, the 156th in the world has since bounced back well. Drafted, Jacquet began by overthrowing Luca Van Assche when he entered the main draw before beating another lucky loser without trembling. Here he is now in the quarter-finals in Metz and assured of reaching his best ranking next Monday (he is currently virtually 136th).
Tabur facing Bublik in the quarter?
In the next round, Jacquet will face Cameron Norrie who has already eliminated two Frenchmen, namely Valentin Royer and Arthur Cazaux. Shortly after, it was Tabur who won this Wednesday afternoon against Alexander Blockx in three sets (6-7, 7-6, 7-6) and 2h55 of play. At the end of a great battle against the young Belgian (102nd in the world), the native of Reims had the last word and continues to make a good impression, after taking out the American Aleksandar Kovacevic. In the quarter, he could now challenge Alexander Bublik, if he first wins against the Ukrainian Vitaliy Sachko.
Finally, note that Moez Echargui played (and lost) his first match on the ATP circuit this Wednesday at age 32. Currently 140th in the world in the ATP rankings, the Tunisian was beaten by the promising American Learner Tien (38th in the world) in two sets (7-6, 6-3) and 1h37 of play. The latter will face in the next round the winner of the match between the Australian Aleksandar Vukic and the Italian Matteo Berrettini.
