According to Jean-Noël Barrot, the Chinese fast-fashion giant is “obviously in violation of the European rules that we adopted in 2022.” He thus evokes the controversy surrounding numerous products sold on the platform: child pornography dolls, category A weapons, but also phone chargers that can catch fire, or even toys made of toxic materials or with elements that can be ingested by young children. “The European Commission must take action, it can no longer wait”therefore believes the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
