Beaten on the field of Soyaux Angoulême during its last outing, Grenoble returned to victory Thursday evening at the Stade des Alpes in an advanced match of the 10th day of Pro D2 by taking advantage of the misfortunes of Béziers to inflict a fourth defeat in a row (23-8) on the very undisciplined Biterrois.
Before going to challenge Vannes at La Rabine during the next day, Grenoble, in difficulty recently, hoped to find a smile again for an evening, Thursday in the advanced match of the 10th day, taking advantage of the arrival of Béziers, one of the teams in the worst shape at the moment in Pro D2. The Grenoblois reached their end by exploiting the great indiscipline of the opponent to subject the Biterrois to their fourth consecutive defeat and thus return to success a week after their defeat at Soyaux Angoulême (34-28).
This FCG, which had lost four times in its last five matches, did not manage to score this fourth try, synonymous with an offensive bonus. The Isère residents will certainly not be difficult after this fifth success for them this season, certainly obtained against an ASBH team which had turned around a lot to get to Isère.
Baret completes the success of the FCG against the Biterrois at… thirteen
This was quickly evident on the pitch at the Stade des Alpes, where this greatly rejuvenated Béziers team, now coached by a tandem composed of David Irazoqui and the Romanian Marius Tincu, was surprised shortly after a quarter of an hour of play. And while Béziers played with fourteen players, Soury, author of a double against Béziers last season and involved in his team’s first try, was flattened this time. On a try from Mathis Baret while the visitors were this time at… thirteen, the FCG gave even more scope to its success at the end of the match. However, a Grenoble team will certainly be needed a notch higher still to achieve a possible feat on Vannes soil.
