“By choosing this moment and this place to reach out to Mercosur, the President of the Republic is signing his break with French agriculture”judge Arnaud Rousseau, denouncing the “total denial” by Emmanuel Macron. “We call on French MEPs to come together to oppose this unacceptable agreement and to defend our producers”continued the president of the FNSEA. And to add: “We will be combative, with the support of the French, to refuse an agreement which would sacrifice our agriculture on the altar of globalization without rules.”

Emmanuel Macron has softened his position on the EU-Mercosur agreement since the start of 2025. He described the agreement as “bad text” in February 2025, during his visit to the Agricultural Show.
