The Urgo group will invest 60 million euros to open a new factory in the Loire and become the world leader in compression tapes

The future factory which will be located near Saint-Etienne in La Loire will create nearly 300 jobs, the Urgo group announced on Friday.

The Urgo group, specializing in medicine and in particular healing dressings and bandages, will invest 60 million euros in France by 2029 to open a new factory in Andrézieux-Bouthéon, near Saint-Etienne in the Loire, franceinfo learned, Friday November 14, from the group. This fifth industrial site in France of 35,000 m2 will enable the creation of more than 300 jobs, 200 direct and 115 indirect.

The future site, located 5 kilometers from the historic Veauche factory, will extend over nine hectares. With this establishment, Urgo wants to become the world leader in compression bands by producing them entirely in France. “We believe in France”Guirec Le Lous, president of Urgo Medical, explains to franceinfo. “The question is not ‘should we manufacture in France’ but ‘how to manufacture in France’?”. By continuing to invest in France, “it’s a message that we carry, that we can continue to believe and invest in France”assures Guirec Le Lous.

This investment of 60 million euros will be highlighted during the Choose France summit, which opens Monday November 17. Usually reserved for international companies, this year it focuses on French companies, which choose to invest in France despite the political and economic context.

Urgo is a family business founded in Burgundy in 1882, hence its name at the heart of the word “Burgundy”.
