“I want to salute the courage of the socialists to enter into the debate”underlines on franceinfo, Friday November 14, the Minister Delegate in charge of the Ecological Transition Mathieu Lefèvre, while the National Assembly continues the examination of the 2026 budget, after the suspension of the pension reform, voted on this Wednesday. Some Macronists say they are annoyed by the position of the Socialist Party, which has demanded numerous concessions from the government of Sébastien Lecornu since the start of the debates.
The minister tackled, in passing, the positioning of LFI and the RN: “Look at rebellious France, it rejects the suspension of pension reform. Look at the National Rally which is choosing to conflict tax policy in our country.”
According to him, the compromises found with the socialists are the least costly option, in a context marked by complex power relations in the Assembly. “What is the alternative to compromise? ? It’s the waltz of governments, an instability which would be damaging for our compatriots and for business leaders”he says, recalling the political and financial cost of censorship of Michel Barnier’s government. “It cost the country 12 billion euros. Here, the pension reform, we are talking about a little less than 2 billion euros.”
“Compromise cannot please everyone. On the other hand, it is the essential way to ensure the stability of the country and reassure the French during the period.”

Mathieu Lefèvre is convinced that the socialists have “desire to reduce public deficits” and recalled that their proposals presented “reductions in public deficits”. He called for parliamentary work to take place: “Let’s be calm, the parliamentary debate will take place. The draft budget will arrive in due time, with a reduction in public deficits.”
