Deschamps implicated, justice opens trial

Justice opens the trial against Daniel Riolo this Thursday, following a complaint for defamation filed by Didier Deschamps.

Three years to the day after the secret departure of Karim Benzema from the French team camp just before the start of the 2022 World Cup, the Paris Criminal Court will judge Daniel Riolo. The journalist is targeted by a defamation complaint filed against him by Didier Deschamps who accuses him of having made defamatory remarks about him following this famous Qatari episode.

It is therefore Thursday in front of the 17th chamber of the court that the two camps will meet again, as told by L’Équipe this Wednesday. The media first indicated that Didier Deschamps was only asking for a symbolic euro “in compensation for his moral damage”. On the other hand, he also explained that the French coach had another request: that Daniel Riolo read the court verdict on RMC, if he were to be convicted.

“But what audacity”
which caused quite a stir. As for Daniel Riolo, he also contested Didier Deschamps’ version, not hesitating to speak of “big lie”. He will talk about
” lie “ from the coach a few days later. And it was this repetition which pushed the Blues coach to take the matter to court.

The lawyers of Didier Deschamps and Daniel Riolo will now have plenty of time to present their arguments.
