Two leaders extend

Bahrain Victorious has extended the contracts of five riders, including two important members of its squad.

In this period of inactivity in professional cycling, the outlines of the workforce are being refined. At Bahrain Victorious, several contract extensions, including those of several training executives, ended up being successful. In the middle of the day, the Gulf team announced that it had reached an agreement with Matej Mohoric to keep him until 2027, i.e. two additional seasons for the man whose contract was expiring.

In addition to the Tour of Poland (2023) and the Tour of Germany (2018), the former lieutenant of Tadej Pogacar won Milan-San Remo in 2022 as well as three stages of the Tour de France. He is also part of a closed circle of riders who have achieved victory in all three Grand Tours.

Stannard stays, Haig leaves the ship

However, in the recently concluded season, Matej Mohoric did not win anything. Like Damiano Caruso who, at 38, still refuses to retire. Nevertheless, the Italian did well in the Giro where he finished 5th overall. A race that he almost won four years earlier, failing 1’29” behind the winner, Egan Bernal.

On the other hand, unlike the Slovenian Matej Mohoric, Damiano Caruso only extended one season. A year 2026 during which he will therefore still team up with Robert Stannard and two other teammates who have also found common ground with Bahrain Victorious to extend their collaboration together. The 27-year-old Australian will represent the Bahraini team until 2027.

Croatian Fran Miholjevi and Austrian Rainer Kepplinger will also be part of the team next year. Unlike seven riders whose training has officially separated: Jack Haig, Torstein Traeen, Finlay Pickering, Andrea Pasqualon, Nicolo Buratti, Fred Wrigh and Serigo Tu.
