LOSC president Olivier Létang was not spared by UEFA. Neither does his club.
The scene did not go unnoticed on October 23
in the Europa League. At half-time of the meeting between LOSC and PAOK Salonika, at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium (3-4 defeat for Lille then trailing 0-3 at the break), the president of the northern club, Olivier Létang, got angry with the refereeing body.
“ I have already written to Mr. Ceferin (the president of UEFA, editor’s note), what happened tonight is incredible
», had then launched behind the scenes the boss of the Mastiffs, after Mr. Dabanovic, the Montenegrin official of this match, after a penalty which was nevertheless obvious in view of the images of the VAR refused to Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
Did Aleksander Ceferin receive the supposed message from Olivier Létang? Still, UEFA reacted to the call from the Lille leader. But not necessarily as expected. A disciplinary procedure opened three weeks ago which resulted this Wednesday in a sanction against the former sports director of PSG.
Létang, already a liability in Ligue 1
UEFA thus imposed a fine of 10,000 euros on the Lille official for his comments sharply directed at the referee. A sanction accompanied by another fine of 33,500 euros for LOSC, whose supporters were guilty of using smoke bombs and obstructing traffic within the Pierre-Mauroy stadium.
A few weeks ago, Olivier Létang was singled out by the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League for having criticized Ligue 1 referees. The person concerned then received a firm suspension from the sidelines for one match, accompanied by a suspension of two additional suspended matches.
