Absent since the start of the season, Gabin Villière (29) hoped to return to competition soon after returning to training last week. Unfortunately for the French international winger from RC Toulon, he was affected again and was forced to once again postpone his return to the pitches of the Top 14.
Return delayed again for Gabin Villière. While everything suggested that the explosive RC Toulon winger would very quickly return to competition and thus play his first minutes this season, here the person concerned – and above all very unhappy – was forced to wait again before returning to the field.
The 29-year-old French international with 20 caps for the XV of France and winner of the 6 Nations Tournament with the Blues in 2022 (Grand Slam to boot) had resumed collective training with his teammates last week.
The native of Vire also harbored the hope of making his comeback on Sunday evening (9:05 p.m.) during the clash of the 10th day of the Top 14 between Toulon and Stade Français at the Jean-Bouin stadium. It won’t happen. Worse still for the RCT player: he will have to continue to be patient while waiting to return to competition.
And the list of those absent from the RCT is still growing…
Villière had been absent since last summer due to a finger injury sustained during one of the tests against the All Blacks in New Zealand which forced him to be on the operating table. This time, it is not a question of the RCT player’s finger but of his left leg. Back on his feet, the former Rouen winger, who is therefore not the victim of a relapse, now suffers from a problem with his left adductor.
A “small grip” exactly for Villière, whose duration of this new unavailability has not been revealed (or is not yet known) but who is already certain of not returning to competition this weekend.
The winner of the Challenge Cup with the Var in 2023 also joins a list of absentees for this Sunday’s match against the Parisians which also includes Rayan Rebbadj, another RCT winger, but also Marius Domon, Patrick Tuifua, Beka Gigashvili, Mickaël Ivaldi, Matthias Halagahu and Antoine Fritsch, without counting all the Toulonnais currently selected for selection (Gros, Ollivon, Serin, Garbisi, Brex, Tuicuvu, Javakhia…).
