The member of the National Salvation Front, Chayma Issa, sentenced to twenty years in prison in the so-called case of conspiracy against state security, was arrested this Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the heart of the demonstration in defense of freedoms organized in downtown Tunis.
According to several witnesses, including lawyer Dalila Ben Mbarek Msaddek, plainclothes agents arrested her while she was walking among the demonstrators. The operation took place quickly, in a big crowd, under the shocked gaze of the participants.
The arrest immediately sparked outrage among the crowd. Slogans denouncing the repression were raised, and the atmosphere suddenly became tense. Several demonstrators shouted that those in power were seeking to “silence free voices”, while others chanted calls for the release of prisoners of conscience.
The climate on site remained electric, the anger palpable, and the protesters continued their rally despite reinforced security measures.
