After the defeat against Monaco (1-0), Luis Enrique made a radical decision to try to restart the PSG season.
Paris Saint-Germain experienced new disillusionment this Saturday at Louis II. The Parisians lost 1-0 to AS Monaco, letting precious points slip away in Ligue 1 for the second time since the start of the season. Beyond the contested refereeing decisions, the content of the match also disappointed Luis Enrique.
The Spanish coach did not mince his words to describe his team’s performance. “It’s the worst match of our season. Normally, you have to analyze and review matches, but today it’s easier: it’s a match with lots of inaccuracies, lots of individual and collective errors. Neither team played at a very high level, but they played better than us.”he analyzed at a press conference.
To manage the accumulated fatigue, Luis Enrique decided to spare his workforce. The resumption of training is set for Wednesday 5:00 p.m., thus offering a little more than three days of rest to the Parisians. Loïc Tanzi relayed the information on X: “Resumption of training Wednesday 5:00 p.m. for the Parisians. A little more than three days of rest granted by Luis Enrique.”
A busy December
This decision comes in a complicated context for PSG, heavily affected by injuries since the start of the season. These few days of recovery aim to provide freshness to a squad which has not benefited from complete summer preparation, following the Club World Cup and the start of Ligue 1 at a sustained pace.
Despite this short respite, the schedule remains busy for the capital club. The month of December will be demanding with two Ligue 1 matches, against Rennes on December 6 and Metz on the 13th, a Champions League match against Athletic Bilbao on December 10, as well as a Coupe de France tour.
