If Antoine Dupont made a remarkable comeback on Saturday against Racing, he risks being caught by his coaches, according to one of his teammates.
Stade Toulousain had a very nice evening on Saturday. If there was emotion due to the departure of Pita Akhi, who played his last match against Racing with the Rouge et Noir after seven years of good and loyal service, the great victory won against the Parisians (48-24) was enough to make you smile.
But the most important thing was elsewhere: after eight months of absence, Antoine Dupont made his comeback to competition. Came into play at 50e minute replacing Paul Graou, the Toulouse scrum-half immediately seemed very comfortable, showing great enthusiasm and pulling off some high-class moves like this decisive pass to the foot for Matthis Lebel.
The former Castres was nevertheless sometimes somewhat greedy, like this risky restart from his goal. An audacity which risks earning him some reprimands from the Toulouse staff, according to Matthis Lebel. “He wants to play, at the slightest opportunity, on the slightest ball even if, on this one, I think he will be caught a little by the coaches,” explained the Haut-Garonne winger.
Antoine Dupont happy with this first
At the end of the match, however, it was not time for reprimands for Jean Bouillhou, the forwards coach. “ We weren’t worried, the week had been good, the players really connected (with him). And in two or three sequences, we see that he is regaining the fluidity of the game. I don’t have the impression that it takes him a lot of time, he got the measure of the match quickly. he thus indicated.
As for the person concerned, he did not shy away from his pleasure.
“I felt pretty good. The score started to be taken when I entered so it was easier. The guys did a good job at the end of the match and put me in good conditions so that I could calmly regain my sensations,
he explained on Canal+. There was a mix of feelings. Since the first group training sessions which I was able to do fully, at 100% of my abilities, I immediately felt good. The system hasn’t changed, the guys, I know them by heart, the automation has therefore returned very well. I just need to find all my athletic qualities again. And it gets better and better. I still have a little work to do but the feelings are good. »
