Life insurance has never been so popular. 17 billion euros in contributions in the month of October alone. 14% more than the same period in 2024. A record. Last May, François Crépel explained that he had taken out several life insurance policies, a way for him to better protect his children. “It’s an investment that remains interesting, especially if we consider that we don’t want to use it and that we consider that it is once again invested for the long term. I will never take care of it again and I know that it will grow quietly and that the day the children benefit from it, they will have attractive tax advantages.”

How to explain such enthusiasm? Firstly, higher savings rates than the Livret A and our desire, in the face of crises, to better secure our money. “The French are ants. There is a real tradition of savings in France. This is what we have been seeing for several years. The French savings rate is three points higher than before the health crisis”indicates Philippe Crevel, president of the Cercle de l’Épargne.

In the second quarter of 2025, the French saved nearly 20% of their income, according to INSEE.
