In the streets of Angers (Maine-et-Loire), Sunday November 30, an unusual crowd contrasted with that of the traditional Sunday markets. Between Christmas shopping and Black Friday promotions, the temptation is great to find prices that are kinder to the wallet: “It allows you, in fact, to do your Christmas spending in the month of November”explains a local resident. A man approves: “We walk around and, what’s more, we can do some shopping. No, shops open on Sundays suit me very well.”

In a shoe store, there are already four sales just 30 minutes after opening. Like others, this merchant would not have wanted to miss such an opportunity: “We have a significant flow of customers, so this generates turnover, it’s essential”recognizes Christophe Harriau, trader.

In the aisles, we come first for the atmosphere, but behind each visitor hides a potential consumer: “We’ve already done a few stands, we’ve already bought two things for the family. We’ll come back with lots of gifts, lots of expenses, but it’s super nice”confides a man. A woman nods: “We discover merchants that we are not used to seeing. And then, by talking, sometimes we can get good deals.”

In Angers, shops will be open two other Sundays between now and December 24. So it’s time to start the race for gifts, and it’s not Santa who will say otherwise.
