“We need other budgetary choices”calls on France Culture Sophie Vénétitay, general secretary of Snes-FSU, the first union of secondary school teachers, on this day of inter-professional mobilization for salaries and social justice, at the call of the CGT, Solidaires and FSU.
The Snes-FSU is mobilizing in particular against the elimination of jobs in National Education planned in the 2026 budget. “There are job creations for trainee teachers, they will not be working full time in front of students, they will continue their training”underlines Sophie Vénétitay. “And besides that, there will be nearly 4,000 job cuts for full-time teachers in primary and secondary education, that is to say in schools, colleges and high schools”she laments.
“We really focus on the deterioration of public services”adds the union representative. According to her, this “comes from budgets which have slashed resources, which have not upgraded staff”. The 2026 draft budget “risks worsening the crisis in public services, there is an urgent need to reverse the trend”says Sophie Vénétitay.
