A few days before the start of Paris-Nice, Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease A Bike) did not hide want to finally win this race and thus continue to prepare for the Tour de France.
After a year 2024 necessarily complicated for him because of his serious injury during the Tour of the Basque Country, Jonas Vingegaard wants to catch up with lost time. Already winner of the Algarve Tour in 2025, the Danish now aims to shine during Paris-Nice (from March 9 to 16) then on the Tour de Catalonia (from March 24 to 30), before tackling its big goal: the Tour de France. But, before that, the leader of Visma-Lease A Bike returned to his fall which changed his plans last year.
“2024 was a little crazy year. She started very well with victories during the Gran Camino and Tirreno-Adriatico. Everything was fine, I was stronger than ever. And then, of course, I had this bad fall in the turn of the Basque Country. To be honest, I think my injury was much worse what most people know. The injuries were very serious, ”said Vingegaard notably.
Vingegaard wants to win back the Tour de France
“I am really happy, I am proud (to have returned so quickly). Having been able to participate in the Tour de France is a victory in itself. And being 2nd at the Tour de France and winning a stage, it was really incredible for me. For the 2025 season, my biggest goal will of course be to win the Tour de France again. For me, it’s the most important race. It is the biggest race of the year. The Tour de France has something special. You have to be there to feel it, then explained the Danes, during the “Cycling Show” on Eurosport. (…) Paris-Nice? I was there two years ago but I was unfortunately won (3rd). I can’t wait to come back and hang the victory there. If they are both fit at that time, we can’t wait to see him challenge his great rival Tadej Pogacar this summer on the roads of France.
