Alta Badia: Marco Schwarz at the top

This Sunday, the Austrian Marco Schwarz, already in the lead after the first round, won the giant slalom at Alta Badia in Italy, just ahead of the Brazilian Lucas Pinheiro Braathen.

Marco Schwarz had the last word. This Sunday, the Austrian, who had already, in the morning, achieved the best time in the first round, won the giant slalom of Alta Badia in Italy, counting for the Alpine Ski World Cup. At the finish, the skier was only 18 hundredths ahead of the Brazilian Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, who finished fifth in the first round.

For his part, the Austrian Stefan Brennsteiner, third after the first round, retained this position and therefore also climbed onto the podium of the day. In fifth place, we find Fabian Gratz. The German is the man of this second round, he who finished in 29th place in the first round and who therefore managed a superb comeback of a total of 24 positions. Even Marco Odermatt, leader of the World Cup ranking and also that of the specialty, did not manage to overtake him.

The French in retreat

The Swiss, eleventh at the end of the first round, finally finished sixth. On the French side, it was even more complicated. The best of them, Alexis Pinturault, 26th in the first round, finished 18th, 1”46 from victory. In 20th position, we find Loevan Parand, although 14th after the first round but who therefore failed to confirm. For his part, Alban Elezi Cannaferina grabbed two places and finished 23rd.

Finally, the disappointment must necessarily be even greater for Thibaut Favrot and Léo Anguenot. Respectively tenth and ninth in the first round, the two Frenchmen both made big mistakes in the second round. Determined to leave with points, the two Tricolores wanted to finish their course, but they ultimately ranked 26th and 28th in this race, 2”47 and 4”25 behind the Austrian Marco Schwarz, who opened his victory counter this season in the World Cup.
