Agricultural mobilization has been in decline since Sunday December 21. It is now limited to the southwest of the country. The government had called for a truce for the end-of-year holidays but for the moment, neither the peasant confederation nor the rural coordination have called for lifting the blockades.

Yesterday, around 10 dams were still in place, mainly in the South-West, compared to around a hundred two days earlier. With the start of the Christmas holidays, the mobilization slows down, but the anger remains high. Here in Briscousse, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the majority of residents support farmers.
“They are doing very, very well and continuing. We understand their difficulties. I understand their problems. I understand that they manifest them. Well, it would be nice if they had a little truce for Christmas“, estimate several local residents.
The government has called for the blockages to be lifted so as not to disrupt vacation departures. But some organizations leave the choice to the departmental sections. “We, in Ariège, are going to lift the barrier, we want to let the celebrations take place peacefully. This is not the only way to mobilize, to block a road. And if the State does not give up, we will certainly take other types of action,” indicates Christophe Gouaze, spokesperson for the Ariège peasant confederation.
Sébastien Lecornu has promised a support fund of 11 million euros and highlights vaccination against lumpy skin disease, already complete in the Pyrénées-Orientales and well underway in Aude. An insufficient response for the FNSEA, which asks the government to review its copy by the next meeting, January 1.
