Lewis Hamilton’s arrival at Ferrari was punctuated by difficulties, both on and off the track.
Lewis Hamilton’s first year at Ferrari did not live up to expectations. The transfer, presented as that of the century, disappointed on the track and the seven-time world champion never really seemed to find his feet within the Scuderia. The tensions were particularly felt in his collaboration with his race engineer Riccardo Adami.
After more than ten years of success with Peter Bonnington at Mercedes, Hamilton is struggling to find the same synergy with the Italian engineer. The symbol of these difficulties lies in the communication and mutual understanding between pilot and engineer. Lewis Hamilton took time to adapt to Ferrari’s methods, and the team had to get used to his expectations and his working style, which was very different from what he knew at Mercedes.
Hamilton-Adami, the end of the collaboration?
Ferrari also seems ready to explore all options to improve the situation. “We will approach the 2026 season in better conditions. Lewis knows the team now, and we know him a lot better than last year. He masters all software and tools. We will do a better job”explained Frédéric Vasseur in comments reported by

“We need to improve our collaboration with Lewis. He must learn to get the most out of the car. At the same time, we need to better understand their needs”continued the director of the Scuderia, recognizing that a change within engineering and a departure of Riccardo Adami cannot be ruled out: “We are evaluating all possibilities. Every detail counts. It is now up to Ferrari to help him return to victory. Again, we need to understand what Lewis wants and needs.”.
