Despite his recent extension with Stade Toulousain, Antoine Dupont could consider a departure abroad.
Present at Stade Toulousain since 2017, Antoine Dupont continues to fuel speculation about his future. Will the French XV star who recently extended his contract until 2031 remain loyal to the Rouge et Noir until the end of his career or will he consider an experience abroad before hanging up his boots?
For the moment, no clear answer is emerging. But some observers, like Mourad Boudjellal, already see a rupture looming. “He will be the first international to play in Japan. I feel in him the desire to discover new cultures, not necessarily for the money, but for the life experience. I can see him globetrotting a bit before returning home to Bigorre”confided the former leader of RC Toulon in an interview with Rugby magazine and cited by

Dupont flourishing at Stade Toulousain
However, for his part, Dupont seems attached to his training. Asked about his future a few months ago, the scrum half recalled his attachment to the pink city and his club: “Today, I don’t see myself playing for any other club in the Top 14 than Stade Toulousain. I have no reason today to change it. I am lucky to be in a club that is successful, in a pleasant city to live in and which is not far from where I am from. All the factors come together so that I can continue to flourish here”.
The dilemma remains. Between the desire to live new experiences and the attachment to Toulouse, we will undoubtedly have to wait several seasons to know whether Antoine Dupont will continue his career in the heart of the Top 14 or venture beyond the borders, towards Japan. A decision which could mark a turning point for the emblematic captain of the Blues.
